Trauma Pathways™

The TAP-Pathways™ contains 20 questions to help you uncover past experiences. As you go through each statement, avoid the tendency to focus on what was ‘done to you.’ Instead, ask: “How did this reaction protect me?” ”Is this still happening?" "Am I still living by this old rule?” Be compassionate.

Taking ‘remembering’ inventories is an act of bravery. It's a way of saying: “I want to know myself more deeply, so I can live more freely.” What you're about to do is gently reflect on your past—not for diagnosis or judgment, but for clarity. You’ll identify how early life stress may have influenced your emotional patterns, attention, memory, and how well your nervous system handles daily life.

If you notice tension, tears, or numbness, take breaks and sit with the feeling. That's your nervous system protecting you. Breathe into the sensation in your body for a count of 6, hold for two beats and slowly release to a count of 8. Acknowledge that this reaction is what your body experienced years ago, it just couldn’t name it then; now you can. Thank the reaction for protecting you. If the process becomes too uncomfortable, it’s a sign to leave it for now; we will continue it together .

How did this reaction protect me? Is this still happening? Am I still living by this old rule?
